Fall in NYC this year has been a tricky season. One day it’s 80 degrees; the next day its 40 degrees, making it a wee bit difficult to plan out an outfit—must be the unusual lunar cycles we’ve been having! Plus, living in NYC also comes with small closets, which means no room for summer and fall and winter clothes. Dresses are therefore my favorite piece of clothing because they take up very little space, and can be easily transitioned from one season to the next by throwing on tights, boots and a sweater or jacket.
When it comes to dressing for many moons, my “go-to” has quickly become Leota’s Ilana Dress in Black Moon. The material is slightly stretchy without being clingy, so it’s work appropriate but can also be dressed down easily. The length is perfect, which—as we tall women all know—is no easy feat to find (FYI: I’m 5’11” barefoot). Without any zippers or buttons, the Ilana Dress is a breeze to throw on, and looks instantly polished and put together. I love the three quarter sleeves—a perfect length for extra coverage in the cooler months!
The Ilana has the benefit of being reversible—boatneck or scoop neck. I prefer the boat neck variation, but it’s always nice to have the choice! What I love most about this dress is how comfortable it is without sacrificing an ounce of style. It’s the perfect choice for city women; the perfect choice alike for anyone who leads an active, on-the-go lifestyle. I can comfortably ride a bike in it WITHOUT flashing passerby (bonus!!) and the wrinkle-free material makes it easy to transport in a suitcase or a gym bag, so I can dress quickly after barre and before work.
To top it off, all of Leota’s dresses are designed and manufactured in NYC, which is something that is important to me from both sustainability and human rights perspectives.
